Getting to the Hollywood Bowl from Downtown LA
If you're staying with us in the Downtown LA area and will be attending an event at the Hollywood Bowl, well lucky you! The Hollywood Bowl is one of our favorite music venues, so you're in for a treat if it's your first time there.
Fortunately, getting there from the Downtown LA area is simple.
1) Drive (15-20 minutes)
Parking is limited, so it is best to arrive early to ensure you have a spot. Note that parking is STACKED and you cannot leave early. After the show, you will usually sit in your car and wait for other cars to move before you can exit (unless you are lucky enough to get a spot at the edge of the lot near an exit). We recommend Lot C since it is the smallest lot, which makes it easier to leave (sometimes). But you have to get there early before it fills up. Parking costs $18-23 if you have a regular sized car.
2) Public Transportation + Free Bowl Shuttle (45-60 minutes)
From the nearby 7th St./Metro Center Station in downtown (20 minute walk from our location or take Bus #16/316 and get off at 6th St. and Hope St., one block from the station), catch the Red Line Metro train towards North Hollywood and get off at Hollywood & Highland in the heart of Hollywood.
From there, you can either walk 15 minutes (1 mile) north on Highland Avenue or take the Bowl Shuttle Bus, which is FREE when you show your valid Tap Card that you used on the Metro Red Line to get to Hollywood. Please note it HAS to be a TAP card, not a paper ticket. If you do not have one, the ride will cost $1.75. You catch the shuttle bus (which is actually Metro Bus #671) on Orange Drive (see map below). The ride is only free beginning few hours before the event starts - click here for additional info and exact times. Buses depart every 10-15 minutes.
An alternate bus to take is Metro Bus #156/656 towards Van Nuys Orange Line Station and get off 3 stops later at Odin and Fairfield. It's a quick ride - about 3-5 minutes! From there just walk up and into the Hollywood Bowl. This ride is not free with a valid TAP card (unless you started your ride on public transport within the previous 2 hours, in which case you get a free transfer), but a good option if you decide to park your car in the Hollywood & Highland parking lot at a more affordable price and then take a bus to the Hollywood Bowl.
Enjoy the show!
